Are there any disadvantages to using an upgrade disk to Premiere 1.5 verses just buying 1.5 and doing a full install? I ask because I just ordered what I thought was the full version of 1.5 from B&H and on the invoice I noticed that they shipped me 6.5 with the 1.5 upgrade disk.

Matt, the only difference that I am aware of is that the installation of an "upgrade" version will ask you for a serial number from a previous version of Premiere. Other than that the products are identical.Cheers

...although if it was me I'd demand what I paid for, regardless :)

Did you get a full set of manuals with it? (1.5 manuals, that is).

Thanks!

After I looked closely at my order I see that I did indeed order 6.5 with the 1.5 upgrade... but it's a bit on the shifty side if you ask me! If you look on their main product page it simply says 1.5 and when you add it to your cart it also only says 1.5 but if you go into the product details it does indeed say that you're purchasing 6.5 with the 1.5 upgrade. I am assuming that I'm gettimg manuals, it doesn't arrive until Friday.

Shifty is the word! I definitely wouldn't be happy with that - it's like ordering a car with a 2.0 litre engine and getting a 1.6 and the engine separately :)

I'd check the packaging over thoroughly before opening it - or better still contact the company and check exactly what's being delivered.

I'd have thought that there'd be some kind of legal or pricing issue here, it simply sounds dodgy.

What is the problem here? You get 2 programs for the price of one.
You can use both if you want on the same computer. Mind you once you have mastered PPRO you will not use 6.5 much. Remember there is no 1.5 PPRO manual: you have a PPRO manual and a PPRO 1.5 Supplement.

Well I found a problem with it if anyone cares. The 6.5 version says it's a bundle version not to be sold seperately and I can't find a serial number on it anywhere! Now I might be overlooking it but I've checked every where I can think of and don't see a serial on anything!

The serial number for a single-user, shrink-wrapped Adobe product is located on the back cover of the CD-ROM jewel case. Your best bet is to get in contact with B&H who sold you the product. It is a reputable firm. You should have no problem.

It wasn't on there at all, but Adobe was able to provide me with one after a quick phone call and fax.
