Hey I'm new to this.

I have a widescreen enabled camera, and when I'm editing in premier it appears widescreen, but then when I export it as a movie it comes out in 4:3 format.

It seems no matter what I do the actual video will stay 4:3. Even if I change the frame so it's 16:9, the video will be 4:3 with big black bars on either side to fill the frame. It's terribly aggrivating.

Also, when I'm capturing video the quality is excellent, but once I start editing it it's worse - why is this?

any help would be great.

Kenzie, chances are good you camcorder does not do 16:9 anamorphic. This was discussed very recently. Search the forum for the previous answers.

Since you are "new to this" I would strongly recommend that you watch the tutorials linked in the PPro Wiki. They will teach you a lot very quickly. Well worth your time.Cheers
Eddie
