I also have dual core processor on new computer and bought Premiere Pro had same problem with capture.
Open Premiere Pro and minimize it
Control Alt Delete
Task Manager box appears
Select Processors
Find Adobe Premiere and right click on it (not SYSTEM)
Then click on set affinity
Untick either CPU and OK

When you close Premiere default returns to both processors automatically. Bit of a faff but it works.

I have AMD X2 4800+ w/ ASUS A8N-SLI Deluxe mobo. I capture with no problem using PPro 1.5 I don't have to use the Task Manager/affinity work around. I've never had to use that work around for any functions in premiere Pro. Further, I've never seen any error of any kind.

I never get lock ups/ freezes on my system. It has excellent benchmarks with PCMark 05, Prime95 stress tested for 13+ hours (running two copies at the same time for dual core), and memtest 13+ hours. It's solid system. However, PPro 1.5 will lock up my sytem if I try to use my IEEE 1394 that is on my Soundblaster Audigy ZS sound card. Luckily,I have two IEEE 1394 ports. I have another IEEE port built into the motherboard. The one built into the mobo works flawlessly. No freezes, no errors, and no task manager work around needeed. It's just fast. My thoughts are that some people might be blaming the AMD dual core when it might be thier IEEE port. So maybe try using a different IEEE port. My onboard IEEE is manufactured by Texas Instruments.

Just curious... Is there anybody out there who has an AMD dual core using PPro 1.5 without any trouble (without using the task manager/affinity work around)or am I the only lucky one??

Steve, I sure would like to get a benchmark from your wonderful system. I have a small downloadable benchmark at <http://mysite.verizon.net/wgehrke/ppbm/> if you have time to download, run this and send me the results I sure would appreciate it.

Congratulations on being able to run so successfully. I am interested in an upgrade soon and looking forward to your data!
