How to treat LFE in Surround-Mixer ?

I have six Mono tracks : FL,FR,C,LFE,SL,SR
In the panner of the mixer window I can assign the individual (FL,FR,C,SL,SR) tracks to Left, Center, Right etc.
but how do I tell the mixer that the track containing the LFE signal has to be assigned to LFE-channel in the AC3 output ?

When I demux the AC3-file the signal of the LFE track is always mixed into at least one of the other channels.

Anton, the only way currently is to put the "puck" in the middle of the 5.1 mixer window and turn up the "LFE Volume". See the 5.1 tutorial in the PPro Wiki.Cheers

Thank you,

This means, that the LFE track is mixed into all other tracks. Is this accepted by a standard Home Theater Dolby Decoder ?

Anton, you're welcome. Personally I have never made a 5.1 mix from mono files in PPro. I mix my surround sound in Adobe Audition, edit in PPro and author the DVD in Adobe Encore. My Denon receiver is very happy with the results. ;)Cheers

Eddie, could you help me oncemore ?

I still do not understand the 5.1 mixing completely.

I start with 6 mono tracks. I can assign each track to a certain position.
My problem is: I can adjust the level of the Center and LFE signals mixed into the relevant output channel of each track individually.
But, how does PPro know b which of the tracks contain the Center/LFE signals which it has to mix into the output.

Anton, if you want a track to be sent only to the center channel, drag the puck completely into the center pocket.

Unfortunately you cannot do this with LFE. I'm guessing you should leave the puck in the middle of the 5.1 area and simply turn up the LFE level.

There is a 5.1 tutorial linked in the PPro Wiki that might make this clearer to you.Cheers
