When I try to play the file, PrePro shows me the first frame of video and holds it as if it were a still, while the audio plays right along. I tried several .mov files and found the same problem.

AVI files are working fine.

I recently uninstalled Matrox capture hardware and software...might that have something to do with it? Any other ideas?

Premiere uses the QuickTime Player to handle .mov files. You may have inadvertently removed QuickTime components when removing your Matrox software. Try playing the .mov file with the QuickTime player outside Premiere. You may have to reinstall QuickTime.

I neglected to mention in my post that the clips play just fine with QuickTime. Do you suggest I uninstall and reinstall QuickTime, even though they play fine?

Thank you kindly for your reply.

Tim Ruff,

For a while ago I some strange things happening with .mov files (can't remember what). I had installed QT player as "custom" and selected most of the features. Then I tried to first uninstall the QT player, and then install it as "recommended". That fixed my problems.

Hi everyone,

I have another problem with .mov files. I would like to convert .mov files into .avi, .mpeg etc... The point is that when I import a mov file into photoshop, I can read the video but the audio has changed into big white noise and crakles. I tried to fit the project sample rate the same a standard .mov file: 44100Hz but it doesn't change anything. So in these conditions, when i try to export my mov file to another format, the output sound track is just... a big and strange noise.
What can I do?

Jim
