Clip versus Crop

Could someone explain to me the difference between the Clip and the Crop
Video Effects. I read the manual but don't understand what the difference
is.

Crop actually makes the part that is cropped away, really gone. You can zoom in if you wish. Clip makes the area you want gone into a color you can key out.

Crop is the most commonly used effect. Clip is used when you want a colored border.
